An invitation to come to South Africa with Susan Doull and Commendable Travel
In 2024, it is South Africa, in the Kalahari Desert, the Cape and the Cape Winelands, plus the Okavango Delta and Savute, in beautiful Botswana. This is a Safari trip with a break for some of the best of the Cape, its art, food, wine, history, and culture. As currently planned, it is 16 days. Those who want a longer time in Cape Town, I will be there two days ahead and would be happy for you to join me.I could keep you busy for a month in this fascinating and beautiful city. For those who would like to shorten their stay, and (their cost), there may be a couple of possibilities so ask me, and we can decide together. For me, all trips to Africa celebrate Adrian, his memory and his love of his country which he passed to me and for which I am so grateful. Africa is life-changing. As in previous trips, many of our local friends will join us for a meal or moment along the way to share their insights, views, their knowledge of the country, and their predictions for the future.
Like past Commendable Travel tours in Southern Africa, this includes a visit to the Cape and Cape Town, that world-class, exceptional city with visits to historic places, to vineyards, gardens and museums. as well as safaris. This time we stay in four separate camps, each with very different safari experiences, too. Safari is all about the majestic and the miniscule in wildlife in their natural habitats and observing African nature as it has been since time immemorial. No other Continent has the wealth and biodiversity of wildlife that can be in Africa; each sighting is special and unique. Many sightings will never be forgotten.
We will fly straight from Cape Town to Tswalu from a private hangar in a private plane to a vast private reserve in the Kalahari Desert, owned by Nicky Oppenheimer's family for your first safari. Our home is the Tarkuni private homestead which will be reserved exclusively for us for the three days.
We will return to civilisation and spend 4 nights in the Cape wine country, in the charming town of Franschhoek, called the food and wine capital of South Africa. But it will also be a base to explore other parts of the Cape. In Franschhoek, we will stay in another exclusive property where you for sure will not be disappointed, with gardens, vineyards, and magnificent Franschhoek views. For those who want to take a layday and just relax or shop, you are welcome.
Then on to Botswana with our partner, "AndBeyond", a pioneer in wildlife conservation, created an operating model which has now been copied not only throughout South Africa, but elsewhere in Africa and in other continents. Ensuring the active and detailed involvement of the local communities has been a prerequisite to the creation and development of wildlife conservation. They will fly us around Botswana to two different lodges to offer us different and exceptional experiences. The first is Nxabega. The camp is known for its elegant tented accommodation, which boasts breathtaking views of both mature mopane woodlands and seasonally flooded grasslands. You have the priceless opportunity to discover incredible, up-close wildlife wonders of this diverse land-water Okavango location. The finale is Sandibe Safari, Lodge, with inspiring organic design, on the edge of a waterway, Sandibe is situated on a diverse, wildlife-rich, private concession, with exclusive traversing rights over a vast 22,500 hectares (55,600 acres) of wildlife land.
We will return to Cape Town or Johannesburg to catch our flights. home ( or stay on if you wish more).
This will be an amazing trip.
