Winter approaches and the Southern hemisphere is beckoning. Think South Africa, think Sunshine, think Safari, think art, culture, good food and great wines. Pull out your duffle bags and get ready to travel 

The South African people are thrilled to be welcoming international visitors. The impact of the travel closure on the Wildlife Reserves and on the Lodges was dramatic. Wildlife needs tourism, quite literally, to survive. Without tourism revenue, wildlife is threatened by poaching for food or for money. Plus revenue from tourism creates viable employment for the people and less poaching of the wildlife, a double benefit. Participating in these operations is a life-saving action for the local communities as well as the animals. 

As any of you who have enjoyed safaris will know, observing animals interact in their natural habitat is not only fascinating, but enlightening as we observe so many patterns that echo human emotions and behaviour. And no two encounters are ever the same. 

On the social and political front, I will be inviting and you will be meeting some of our friends, as Adrian and I always did. They will enlighten us on life and current events as they see them. Their knowledge is always invaluable and I promise that they can be quite a lot of fun, too
